Whether it is fitted, loose, dark or washed denim, many people have some form of denim in their closets.
There are many varieties of denim.

Cotton Serge Denim

Look through your closet and you will most likely find some serge denim. Serge denim is considered traditional denim. It is made with 100 percent cotton serge. Serge is a fabric which has a diagonal pattern. It is known for being sturdy and resilient. Denim is generally blended with other fabrics.

Raw Denim

Feel your dark denim. If the fabric was rough to the touch when it was new, then it is raw denim. Raw denim is dark, unwashed, stiff and very durable. The more you wear it, the more it softens and the the deep color fades.

Selvage Denim

Touch your denim and feel the smooth edge of selvage denim. Selvage denim has a tight weave. This type of fabric is more expensive than other denim and is made on old-style shuttle looms which takes more time to weave.

Stretch Denim

Stretch denim is one of the most comfortable forms of denim. Stretch is the closest form to traditional denim. It also contains spandex. Since it is not stiff, stretch denim allows you to move more freely than other denim fabrics.

Poly Denim

Find a dressier denim fabric and it will be poly denim. Poly denim is easy to wash, light weight and resistant to wrinkles. This is the type of fabric which will work well on those casual Fridays at work. You can be comfortable and still maintain a professional look.

Ramie Denim

Resist bacteria and mold by using ramie denim. Ramie denim is blended with other fabrics such as cotton, poylester and spandex. The blending of other fabrics helps keep it resistant to wrinkles. This denim fabric keeps its shape and does not shrink when washed.

Organic Denim

Manufactured with 100 percent organic cotton, organic denim was made to save the earth. Cotton consumption and the use of pesticides to grow it can harm the earth. All chemicals are excluded out of the process of making organic denim. Ecological elements such as potato starch are used instead.
